Stage 6 - Friday

Brisighella - Firenze 🌦

38kms

Our last day began with a mixture of sad and happy feelings. What a wonderful time we've had!

We did a few stretches before an up hill ride to the train station for our 40 minute trip over and through the Apennines Mountains to Borgo San Lorenzo.

We then had a (nasty) 2km STEEP climb. Took us over almost an hour to walk our bikes up! We were then rewarded with a short descent followed by a gradual 3km climb that we managed to ride the whole way up!

All downhill from there into Firenze!

We were going quite quickly, enjoying the coast when we realised, number one we weren't in a hurry and, number two we were in Tuscany! A dream has come to fruition... quite a reality check when you slow down enough to experience it.

What an incredible six days it's been! Each day presenting a challenge at the start and a huge accomplishment at the end. We're so proud that we made it. Every moment was worth it to experience this adventure together.

Ciao Firenze!

Our tour failed us but Dave's forward thinking saved us. He pre-downloaded a Firenze map so we managed, after getting lost and no map or directions supplied, to make it to the final hotel of our tour.

The Hotel Ambasciatori is a lovely hotel. Great bath for soaking our travel weary bodies in but unfortunately the worst informed and least welcoming hotel of our whole tour. Not quite the ending we had in mind!

Firenze is famous for it's beef and we were not disappointed from our first night's sampling! Sensational meal!

We are very much looking forward to moving to our apartment tomorrow to start the fourth phase of our Italian Dreaming adventure!

Two glorious weeks exploring Firenze, Tuscany and all that surrounds this beautiful region of Italy.
