It is exactly as I imagined... I keep pinching myself to make sure it's real!
Lunched on some Venetian classics with a half litre of vino rosso of course!
1. Saree in saor - sweet-sour dish consisting of fried sardine fillets marinated in vinegar, onions, raisins and pine nuts.
2. Baccala mantecato - creamed dried cod made into a smooth mousse seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper and served with grilled, or sometimes soft, polenta.
3. Spaghetti alle vongole - pasta with clams in bianco, i.e., with oil, garlic, parsley, and sometimes a splash of white wine.
